Overview
·
India to acquire
Armed Heron TP drones from Israel.
·
The Proposal was
signed for a $400- Million which was pushed by the Modi Government.
·
These Drones will
be operated by the Indian Air Force.
·
Israel’s Armed
Heron Drones are similar to the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) that
are capable of reconnaissance, combat & support roles.
·
Heron Drones can carry
a payload of over 1000kg & will be equipped with air-to-ground missiles
that detect, track & take down targets deep in enemy territory.
·
Inclusion of such
Drones will be the major highlight in a high-risk area where there is a decrease
in Pilot’s performance.
·
This was further brought in to bring down
cross- border raids where human requirement can be reduced & hence it is a
worthwhile deal.
