Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare inaugurated National Conference on Crop residue Management for farmers from states of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The conference was held at New Delhi. The conference would go a long way in mitigating the problem of stubble burning besides creating awareness among farming community. 2. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s second Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal (built at Sahibganj) online from Ranchi, Jharkhand. He also laid the foundation of a secretariat building in the state capital (Ranchi). Special Training Programme for Maldivian Civil Servants is scheduled to be conducted at the hill town Mussoorie (Uttarkhand) and New Delhi from 16 to 28 September 2019. The exercise ‘HimVijay’ is scheduled to be carried out by Indian Armed Forces in October 2019 in Arunachal Pradesh, close to borders with China. In these upcoming war games, the Indian Armed Forces plan to deploy their latest American weapons systems such as M777 ultra-light howitzers and Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. 2. DRDO charged with the military’s research and development, successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in ranges of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh (AP). It is an Indian 3rd-generation fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile. The missile is derived from Nag ATGM of India. · Sports News : 1. PepsiCo India has roped in India’s star athlete Hima Das as the brand ambassador for its sports drink brand Gatorade. With this the 19-year old Hima Das joins ace shuttler PV Sindhu (since 2017) and javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra (since 2018) as the brand’s ambassadors in country. 2. Afghanistan raced to a world record 12 successive Twenty20 international wins with a 25-run victory against Bangladesh.
