*INTERNATIONAL NEWS*

1. A second round of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia began in Abu Dhabi with U.S. and international mediation amid ongoing conflict and recent missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
2. The U.S.–Russia New START treaty limiting deployed strategic nuclear warheads (1,550 each) and inspections expired on Feb 5 2026, raising concerns over nuclear arms control and verification gaps.
3. India and the US agreed on a major bilateral trade deal, under which tariffs on Indian goods will be reduced from 50% to 18%. This will significantly boost.

*NATIONAL NEWS*

1. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority signed 10 major MoUs worth USD 96 billion (~?8.73 lakh crore) expected to create ~9.6 lakh jobs across infrastructure, logistics, AI, FinTech, sports tech, and sustainability sectors.
2. Govt of India has introduced a ?10,000 crore SME Growth Fund, to spur future business champions.
3. Y. Khem Singh took oath as the new Chief Minister of Manipur.
4. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal clarified on the Parliament that securing energy for 1.4 billion Indians was a “supreme priority” and noted diversification of oil imports from 27 to 41 countries in recent years.

*DEFENCE NEWS*

1. India is on the verge of signing a landmark $8 billion defence agreement with Germany under Project-75(I) by March 2026. This pact will involve joint design, development, and manufacturing of advanced submarines.
2. DRDO has successfully tested the Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) propulsion system — a high-end air-breathing engine for future long-range missiles.
3. Indian Budget 2026 has allocated ?7.85 Lakh Crore Defence Allocation. This is a 15 % increase from last year(2 % of GDP).
4. Adani Defence & Aerospace (India) signed a MoU with Italy’s Leonardo to co-develop and manufacture military helicopters in India. The collaboration aims to supply over 1,000 helicopters to India’s armed forces over the next Decade.

1. Pakistan will boycott the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match to be held in Colombo on 15th of Feb.
