1. Joint investigation committee (JIC) comprising of US and Indian officials have test-fired M777 ultra-light howitzers (ULH) at Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan. Indian Army is going to deploy these artillery guns in high-altitude areas in Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh, bordering China. Its induction will give Indian defence forces a much needed operational advantage and an access to state of art technology. 

2. According to latest report of Global Firepower Index 2017, out of 133 countries, India is ranked fourth for its military strength. USA, Russia & China are ranked above India on the list.

3. India & Myanmar have signed agreement on land border crossing to enhance economic interaction between people of the two countries. Centre has asked 4 states namely-Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram to distribute “border pass” to all the residents living within 16 km from the border.

4. India and Vietnam have signed MoU on cooperation between India’s Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) and the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM).It will help in promoting the development of advanced, more proliferation resistant nuclear power reactors.

5. India is currently at the top of the medals tally, with 3 Gold and 4 Bronze in the ongoing ISSF Shooting World Cup at Guadalajara in Mexico. Manu Bhaker and Shahzar Rizvi have been the Gold medal shooters for India, so far.
