NEWS 04-03-2018. NEWS FOR 5-MAR (MONDAY) 1. Tri-service maritime exercise ‘Paschim Lehar’ was conducted by Indian Navy, which concluded off the western coast in Arabian Sea. The objective of the exercise was to build interoperability between Indian Navy, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. 2. Bharati Defence and Infrastructure Ltd (BDIL) delivered high-speed interceptor boat ICG C-162 to Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The vessel will be used for patrolling purposes.3. BJP has secured absolute majority in Tripura by winning 35 Assembly seats in the 60-member house whereas in Nagaland the BJP and its ally National Democratic Progressive Party together won 28 seats out of 60 seats. In Meghalaya, Congress has emerged as the single largest party winning 21 seats in the 60-member Assembly. 4. Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang is on a 2 day visit to India. They have decided to work together for an open and prosperous Indo-pacific region. India, Bangladesh and Russia have signed tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in construction of Rooppur nuclear power plant near Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is first initiative under India-Russia nuclear deal to undertake atomic energy projects in third countries. It will also be India’s first atomic energy venture abroad. 6. Indian shooter Shahzar Rizvi clinched gold with a world record score while Mehuli Ghosh & Jitu Rai grabbed bronze in 10m air pistol women’s and men’s final respectively in the ISSF World Cup at Guadalajara in Mexico.7.
