NEWS 07-01-2018. NEWS FOR 8-JAN 1. IAF for the first time is planning to deploy the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas in its mega pan-India exercise called ‘Gangashakti’ to be held in Mar-Apr. 2. The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of 14.2km tunnel in Zoji-La. This will provide all weather connectivity between Ladakh & Kashmir. This will also give strategic edge to the armed forces in the region. It will consist of 2-lane bi-directional tunnel with a Parallel Escape (Egress) Tunnel. 3. Indian Army & Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has foiled a Chinese attempt to build a track on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Tuting area of Arunachal Pradesh. 4. China on the pretext of its ambitious project-One Belt One Road has started pumping in millions of dollars in Kazakhstan to build the transport hub-Khorgos Gateway. It is a dry port. 5. President Donald Trump’s administration has proposed to not extend H-1B visas of those waiting for their Green Cards.
