NEWS 13/10/2017. NEWS FOR 14-OCT (SATURDAY) 1. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved two World Bank schemes, “Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)”, with Rs 3300 crore and Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) with Rs 1100 crore. Both are meant to boost Skill India Mission. 2. Over 270 people have been arrested in China for selling fake IDs of top Chinese army ranks. The arrest uncovered 15,000 pieces of false military equipment, including imitation guns, uniforms, logos etc. 3. Samsung Electronics’ CEO Kwon Oh-hyun has announced his resignation by March 2018 stating that the time had come for the company to start anew with a new spirit and young leadership. 4. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have launched Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) to accelerate full immunization coverage to more than 90% by December 2018. 5. Rajasthan became the first state in the country to incorporate skill development programme in higher education. In this regard, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in collaboration with state’s Department of College Education has prepared 16 courses for entrepreneurship and skill development for colleges in the state. < < Back
