NEWS 11-09-2017. NEWS FOR 12-SEPT (TUESDAY) 1. India’s first all women crew circum navigation expedition- Navika Sagar Parikrama was flagged-off from the coast of Goa . The crew of six members will circumnavigate the globe in the sail boat ‘TARINI’ . The expedition will be done in 5 legs with 4 stopovers at Fremantle (Australia), Lyttleton (New Zealand), Port Stanley (Falklands) and Cape Town (South Africa) to stock ration and necessary repairs. 2. DRDO has successfully test fired the third generation Anti Tank Guided Missile – NAG. It was fired from NAMICA (Nag Missile Career). It works on fire and forget principle & is equipped with advanced imaging Infrared Radar system. It has operational range of ½ - 4 km when land launched and 7-10 kms, when air launched. It’s helicopter launch version HELINA can be fired from Dhruv and Rudra ALHs. 3. The Indian Finance Ministry has imposed 18.95%. countervailing duty on Chinese flat steel, for a period of 5 years, to protect domestic industries against unfair trade subsidies provided by the govt of exporting nation. 4. Scientists from Cardiff University, U K , have discovered a procedure to produce methanol from methane by using oxygen from the air. The new process will help to reduce fossil fuel dependency and to make the environment cleaner and greener as it seeks to use gas flared into atmosphere. 5. The Indian Army has made a plan to induct women in Military Police. In the beginning about 800 women will be inducted. It will help to investigate gender specific crimes.
