NEWS 08-09-2017. NEWS FOR 9-SEP (SATURDAY) 1. Mr Arun Jaitley visited Japan for a two day visit, on 4th September 2017. He met the Japanese Defence minister as a part of the India-Japan annual defence ministerial dialogue in Tokyo. 2. Dr.M.S.Swaminathan, Leader of the Green Revolution and Padma Shri Dr.H.Sudarshan along with Vice Chairman of Niti Aayog Dr.Rajiv Kumar and Member of Niti Aayog Dr.Vinod Paul, have launched the National Nutrition Strategy. This Strategy aims to ensure that every child, adolescent girl and woman attain optimal nutritional status by 2022. 3. India handed over an off-shore patrol vessel, Varuna, to Sri Lanka as a part of stepping up co-operation between the two coast guards. 4. Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes won the Italian Grand Prix 2017 to take lead in Formula-1 title race. He over took Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel who finished 3rd in the race and now has a 3 point lead. Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes finished second. 5. India defeated SriLanka in the only T20i played in Colombo on 6-Sep by 7 wickets, Virat Kohli was declared the Man of the match. By winning this last match of the tour India defeated Srilanka in 3 tests, 5 ODIs and 1 T20 creating many records. < < Back
