NEWS 15/08/17. NEWS FOR 15-AUG (TUESDAY) 1. Mr. Neil Chatterjee, an NRI has been appointed as the Chairman of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by the U.S President Mr Donald Trump. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regulates the transmission and sale of electricity and natural gas in USA. 2. India will deploy smart fencing system developed by Israel along the Pakistan border. The CCT V powered fencing system will detect infiltration and alert the border outpost in real time. 3. India and Russia will hold mega war exercise “INDRA”, in Russia from 19 to 29 October – involving Army, Navy & AF of both the countries. 4. The Indian Sprint Legend Milkha Singh has been appointed as the World Health Organization’s goodwill ambassador for physical activity in South – East Asian Region. 5. Davinder Singh Kang became the first Indian to qualify for the final round of the javelin throw at IAAF World Championship, currently happening in London. 6.
