NEWS 28-08-2022. News For 29th-Aug (Monday) 1. India is in an "advanced stage" of negotiations with the U.S. to procure 30 MQ-9B Predator armed drones for over $3 billion. 2. Govt has launched India's first indigenously developed Hydrogen fuel cell bus developed by KPIT-CSIR in Pune. This possibly makes the hydrogen fuel cell bus the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation. 3. India, for the first time voted against Russia during a "procedural vote" at the United Nations Security Council on Ukraine. The 15-member powerful UN body invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to address a meeting through a video tele-conference. Russia voted against it, while China abstained. 4. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit was sworn in as the 49th Chief Justice of India (CJI). 5. India's Chirag Shetty & Satwiksairaj Rankireddy settled for a historic bronze medal after losing 22-20 18-21 16-21 against Aaron Chia & Soh Wooi Yik in the Men's Doubles Badminton Semi-Finals of the ongoing BWF World Championships in Tokyo.
