NEWS 12-06-2022. News for 13th-Jun (Monday) 1. Indian national Krishna Srinivasan has been appointed as Director of the Asia and Pacific Department (APD) of the International Monetary Fund. 2. India's Defence Minister handed over 12 high-speed guard boats to Vietnam on his recent three-day visit to the country. 3. India's rank jumped one notch to 7th position among top recipients of foreign direct investments (FDI) during 2021, despite lower FDI inflows. Inflows to India declined to $45 billion in 2021 from $64 billion in the previous year. 4. Sri Lanka has sought a USD 55 million loan from India for the procurement of urea amidst its worse economic crisis threatening a severe food shortage. 5. The Niti Aayog has recently come up with a plan for the "Holistic Development" of the Great Nicobar Island, situated at the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The plan includes building a International Container Transshipment Terminal, airport, thermal power plant & a township. 6. Tyre exports from India has jumped 50% to Rs.21,178/- crore in FY22.
