The World Trade Organization (WTO) Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is looking into resolving WTO rules that are making it difficult for India to export food grains to meet shortages in other countries, caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, according to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. 2. Lt Gen Manoj Pande, will be the next Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), on April 30. He will be the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to become COAS 3. The Indian software-as-a-service (SaaS) industry is likely to hit the $100 billion mark in revenue by 2026. 4. IMF has cut India's GDP growth forecast for FY23 to 8.2% from 9%. Despite this, India will remain the fastest growing economy in the world. IMF has cut its global growth outlook for 2022 to 3.6%. China has a growth projection of 4.4%, while US & UK are at 3.7%. 5. UK PM Boris Johnson visited India on a 2 day visit. It is set to bring in business worth 1 billion GBP in new investments & export deals. 6. Construction major JCB has opened its newest factory in India set up at an investment of 100 million pounds. The plant located at Vadodara in Gujarat will fabricate parts for global production lines & will be capable of processing 85000 tonnes of steel annually. 7. World's top wheat importer Egypt has approved India as its wheat supplier. The development comes amid a sharp decline in availability of wheat in global markets due to the ongoing conflict between Russia & Ukraine, who are both major wheat exporters.
