India hosted & participated in the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2016 at Visakhapatnam with other countries like China, Vietnam, US & Australia among others. This showcased 75 Indian warships.

This maritime event highlighted the common desire to use the seas to promote peace, cooperation, friendship & also to secure maritime future.

1.     Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has expressed his view with reference to the creation of artificial islands or land reclamation in the presence of China & has called for a new dispute resolution mechanism to avoid conflicts between sea faring nations.

2.     This event is in line with India’s Act East Policy & ensures maritime security & has strengthened naval ties with navies across the globe.
