Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar has expressed his opinion to establish strong industrial defence base in the country.
The Government desires for greater outsourcing by defence PSU's & ordnance factories.
He also desires that the Government should plan to enter into "strategic partnership" with domestic private firms in 6 critical areas, replacing the system of awarding contracts to the lowest bidder.
Defence ministry has set up a committee under the Chairmanship of former DRDO chief VK Aatre to recommend guidelines for selecting Indian private firms for strategic partnership under " Make in India".
