National News :

1. 
Ponung Doming is the first lady officer from Arunachal Pradesh in the Indian army to be elevated to the rank of Lieutenant colonel. She was commissioned into the Indian army as Lieutenant in 2008. She is currently posted in Pune, Maharashtra. Doming had completed her graduation in civil engineering. She served the UN Peace keeping force in Congo in 2014.


2. 
The Centre government has cut the effective corporate tax rate for existing domestic companies to 25.17% (from 34.94% now) and for new domestic companies, it will be 15% now. For this purpose the government has brought in Taxation Laws (Amendment) Ordinance 2019 to make certain amendments in Income-tax Act 1961 and Finance (No. 2) Act 2019.

1. 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the 2019 ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’ by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation at a ceremony held on the sidelines of United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York City, US. PM Modi was honoured with international award for his leadership of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (or Swachh Bharat Mission), which he had launched on 2 October 2014 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi played host to United States President Donald Trump at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, for an Indian-American rally dubbed the ‘Howdy Modi: Shared Dreams, Bright Futures’. The mega ‘Howdy, Modi’ gala event saw around 50,000 Indian-Americans in attendance. Before this event, no US President has ever addressed a community event along with an Indian Prime Minister.

1. 
India and the United States are set to hold their first tri-services exercise code-named as ‘Tiger Triumph’ at Visakhapatnam and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. It is scheduled to be held in November 2019. This will be only 2nd time that India will deploy assets and manpower from its Army, Navy and Air Force together for an exercise with a foreign country. India had earlier conducted similar tri-service exercise ‘Indra wargames’ with Russia at Vladivostok in 2017.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested the Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) ‘Astra’ from Su-30 MKI platform off the coast of Chandipur in Odisha. These trials were held from 16-19 September 2019 and were conducted by Indian Air Force (IAF) against Jet Banshee target aircraft simulating all possible threat scenarios.

1. 
At the World Wrestling Championships held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), India’s Rahul Aware bagged a bronze medal in men’s 61kg category bout while Deepak Punia won silver in men’s 86 kg freestyle. Rahul Aware won against his opponent Tyler Lee Graff with 11-4. India finished with its best-ever medal haul at World Championships by winning 5 medals. The 5 medal includes- 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. India’s previous best show was at World Championships in 2013, when India had 3 in their bag courtesy- Amir Dahiya (silver), Bajrang Punia (bronze) and Sandeep Tulsi Yadav (bronze in Greco-Roman). Rahul Aware’s was last Indian in contention at tournament and his bronze helped India finish with their best-ever medal haul.


2. 
The Bengaluru-based cueist Pankaj Advani increased his tally of world titles to 22 by winning a 4th straight final in the 150-up format at IBSF World Billiards Championship 2019 held in Mandalay, Myanmar. Pankaj Advani defeated Nay Thway Oo of Myanmar.
