1.The Vikram Lander successfully separated from Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter on September 2, 2019. The Lander will now begin de-orbiting on September 3 to begin its preparations for the historic moon landing on Sept 7.
2. Under the proposed 'Samudrayaan' project, three men will be sent into deep sea in a submersible vehicle to a depth of about 6kms to carry out various deep underwater studies including mining of metallic nodules. The project is expected to be undertaken by 2021-22.
3. More than 3.1 crore people have been included in the final National Register of Citizens, however, over 19 lakh people have been left out. Foreign Tribunals (FT) have been set up to consider the pleas of these 19lakh people. This process will go on for another 120 days starting from 1st September.
4.Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Fit India Movement on the occasion of National Sports day at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
5.The Union Government has constituted a 5-member Group of Ministers (GoM) to look into issues concerning the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The GoM will look into the development, economic and social issues of the two UTs and suggest ways to improve the situation.
6.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has transferred a sum of Rs. 1,76,051 crore to the Government of India as per the recommendations made by Bimal Jalan Committee.
7.FM Nirmala Sitharaman announced the mergers of some leading banks to enhance accessibility throughout the nation.
