NEWS FOR 28-OCT (SATURDAY)
1. After reviewing the progress of urban missions in the eight north eastern states, The Centre has approved 464 projects costing Rs 14,124 crore in eight smart cities of North East India including Brahmaputra river front development project in Assam’s capital city Guwahati on 26-oct.

2. Indian Railway’s first set of solar plants with total capacity of 5 megawatt peak (MWp) was launched on roof tops of railway stations at Delhi by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.  Indian Railways have planned to commission 1000 MWp solar plants across its network.

3. The Union Ministry of Tourism gave Letters of Intent (LoI) to seven shortlisted companies for adopting 14 monuments under Adopt a Heritage Scheme at the closing ceremony of ‘Paryatan Parv’ held in New Delhi.

4. According to Arms Control Association, India’s nuclear stockpile comprises of around 130 nuclear weapons. India’s ballistic missile's strike capability is 8,000 km and is in a process to cover entire China under its range with variety of launch systems from land, air, water.

5. As the under-17 world cup enters its finsl phase,  FIFA's president Gianni Infantino has urged that the country now has necessary infra to host more events. India's next target is to host under 20 World Cup. England will face Spain in the finals at Kolkatta on 28-Oct.
