1.    China has organised two days’ summit to showcase its plan to build a network of trade routes under the One Belt, One Road (OBOR). OBOR is China’s ambitious development strategy to boost its connectivity and trade with Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.The summit is expected to be attended by nearly 65 countries. The US and Japan who were initially reluctant to attend the summit have decided to send a representative at the last minute. Pakistan is sending the largest delegation consisting of four chief ministers and five federal ministers.India, however, has refused to send any representative owing to sovereignty concerns related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).   

 2.    Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Supreme Court’s Integrated Case Management Information System (ICMIS). This digital filing system will mark Supreme Court’s first towards becoming a paperless, digital court. ICMIS is hailed as the Biggest and highest leap in judicial system. Subsequently, all High Courts, District Courts, Sub-Division Courts will be integrated with the new system. Later, all the jails in the country will also be Integrated by ICMIS software.  

 3.    The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to share online scores of candidates taking competitive exams to boost hiring by the private sector. As per the government’s proposal, the scores of the candidates taking part in the competitive exams will be linked to the Integrated Information System for Public Recruitment Agencies The scores made available in the website will act as a useful database for other employers to identify good, employable candidates.     

 4.    India and Japan has decided to strengthen their military cooperation and hopes to pursue a strategic partnership for ensuring regional peace and stability. The visit of Defence minister Arun Jaitley to Tokyo comes at the backdrop of rising tension in the region&territorial rows over the South China Sea involving North Korea.A naval exercise,’ the Malabar trilateral exercise’ between Japan, the U.S. and India are slated to be held in the Bay of Bengal from 10th July 2017.   

5.    Thirty-nine-year-old Emmanuel Macron has been elected as the president of France. He has become the youngest President of France. Macron defeated Marine Le Pen, his far-right opponent. With the victory, Macron is poised to become one of Europe’s most powerful leaders. 

  6.    Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat & Divya Kakran have bagged silver medals at the Asian Wrestling Championship held at the KD Jadhav Stadium in New Delhi.
