*National news*
1. Nagaland got its second railway station after a gap of more than 100 years, with the commissioning of a new facility at Shokhuvi. Dimapur Railway Station, which is situated in the heart of the commercial hub of the state, was inaugurated in 1903.
2. Mahindra and Mahindra company has introduced Mahindra marksman bullet proof vehicle for CRPF. It can carry 6 solider at a maximum speed of 120km/hr. This will add speed and security to the soldiers.
3. Dr. S Jaishankar visited UAE in the first week of September and both the countries have decided to make their trade grow to 100 Bn. This trade will improve the relations further.
4. India joined a select band of countries on September 2 when it commissioned the country’s first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant. With the commissioning of INS Vikrant, the Indian Navy now operates two aircraft carriers, the other being INS Vikramaditya, a platform that was refurbished and procured from Russia.

6.Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) has won the contract to supply 10,000 Bullet Proof Jackets to the Indian Armed Forces which will provide level 3 protection.
7.For the first time ever in the Indian private sector, a Hyderabad based company - *Paninian*, has successfully demonstrated the design and validation of a 4.5 KN Turbojet Engine, that can power cruise missiles & larger UAVs, which could end India's reliance on foreign companies.
8. L&T is set to display a new 8X8 wheeled armored fighting vehicle, at the upcoming 12th edition of DefExpo 2022, to be held from October 18 to 22, 2022 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
9.By the next Independence Day, India will launch its first hydrogen-powered train, that will be designed, developed, and manufactured in the country.
*DEFENCE NEWS*
1. India joined a select band of countries on September 2 when it commissioned the country’s first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant. With the commissioning of INS Vikrant, the Indian Navy now operates two aircraft carriers, the other being INS Vikramaditya, a platform that was refurbished and procured from Russia.
2. Ex *Parvat Prahar* was conducted recently in Ladakh. This Exercise is a 20 day long routine conduced by Indian Army to undertake disengagement from Patrolling Point 15 in eastern Ladakh. This exercise was held at a height of 14,000 feet and it used all newly terrain vehicles transported by Chinook heavy lift helicopters and K9 Vajra howitzers.
3. India is now looking to allow private sector companies to develop sub sonic air launch cruise missiles from 200km to 500km range & also develop surface to surface variants of a similar range, as there will be a huge demand from the tri services in the coming 20 years.
4. The IAF has taken a huge step by deciding to purchase 100 UAVs for base security & surveillance around the nation. These drone systems will be purchased from Indian suppliers or original equipment manufacturers.
5. Argentina has progressed on talks for purchasing India's Tejas fighter aircraft. HAL's LCA Tejas is one amongst its 4 shortlisted contenders which includes Chinese JF-17, second hand American F-16 & Russian Mig-35.
6. As part of capability enhancement in Arunachal Pradesh beyond the Tawang sector, the Indian Army is set to deploy two Heron-Mk2 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), along the LAC in the Eastern sector by end of September.
7. Govt has recently launched an indigenously developed drone named *'Defender'*. The Defender is loaded with 13 pre-programmes to lock, track and nautralise rogue drones. It can effectively neutralise threats without any human intervention.
8. India had joined Russia's Vostok 2022 War games. However India stayed away from the Naval drill to avoid hurting Japan's sensitivity.
9. Egypt has shown interest in purchasing India's HAL Tejas fighter jet. It is planning to procure 70 Tejas aircrafts to replace its aging F-7 fleet which is currently in reserve.
10. The defence ministry recently signed a 1,700-crore contract with BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd for buying additional dual-role capable missiles for the navy, a move that will boost Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence production.
11. The Indian Air Force is now planning to pursue its ‘Project Cheetah’ under the ‘Make in India’ campaign. Under this project, Indian defense manufacturers will equip Israeli Heron drones with indigenous strike capabilities.
12. India has offered its submarine to Philippines as Philippines is looking to induct two diesel electric submarines. Apart from India, South Korea, Turkey & France have also shown interest in participating in the bidding.
13. The IAF retired one of its four remaining MiG-21 squadrons - Sword Arms, in September 2022.
14. IAF, which operates a large Su-30MKI fleet, has plans to upgrade these jets with Indian made weapons, so that they remain relevant till 2045, after which they will be replaced by next gen (6th Gen) fighter jets
*International News*
1. Shanghai Cooperation Meeting was held on 15 & 16 Sep at Samarkand, Uzbekistan. 8 member countries including India, China, Russia, Pakistan attended. India gave cold shoulders to China & Pakistan by not having any talks with them.
2. Pakistan is Struggling to overcome the loss due to flood and dwindling economy. The federal reserve of Pakistan is down to 9 billion dollar, a fall from 22 billion dollar last year.
3. China is experiencing a slowdown in its economy due to its collapsing Real estate Sector which is a major contributor to its overall GDP.
4. G-20 meeting was held at New Delhi, India and hosted over 200 dignitaries from around the globe including major international institutions as observing memebes.
*Sports news*
1. The Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida will host the Grand Prix of Bharat for 7 years from 2023 onwards.
2. India has won the cricket series, both against the mighty Australia & South Africa.
*Economy news*
1.In the first qtr of fy 22-23 (Apr-Jun), India's GDP has been 13.5%. As against this, China's GDP has grown only by 0.4%, Germany 0.1%, UK -0.1% & USA -0.5%.
2. Federal Bank of USA has recently hiked their Interest rates, which has made rupee and other currencies in the world weaker.
3. Russia has stopped the Gas Supply to many European Powers leading to global inflation in the energy market. Europe will face bigger problem in upcoming winter.
