NEWS 11-09-2022. News For 12th-Sep (Monday) 1. *Queen Elizabeth II,* Britain's longest reigning monarch, *expired* at 96 yrs of age, on 8th Sep, after 70 years on throne. With her death, her eldest son Charles has automatically become Britain's new king. 2. DRDO has successfully conducted six flight-tests of the indigenous *QRSAM (Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system).* The QRSAM system searches & tracks enemy targets on the move & then fires on a short halt. 3. The DRDO has successfully tested a new version of Akash Missile – *‘Akash Prime’.* India is likely to export Akash missile system along with the transfer of technology to 6 countries. 4. India and China have begun disengagement along the LAC, at Gogra hotspring. This development has triggered speculation about the possibility of a meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit to be held at Samarkand in the 3rd week of Sep. 5. The Aero engine consortium, which will be part of developing 110kn engines for AMCA, have stressed on the need for India to have an engine development center locally, to avoid dependency on other coutries. India is all set to purchase 1000 engines for its flighter jets. 6. USA has approved to upgrade Pakistan’s F-16 fighter aircraft fleet, in a deal valued at up to $450 million.
