1. The govt of India has banned the export of wheat due to the sudden spike in prices of wheat, due to which the food security of India, neighbouring countries & other vulnerable countries are at risk. The G7 nations (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK & US) have condemned this move of India.
2. Ranil Wickremesinghe has been sworn in as the new PM of SriLanka by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa amid the political & economic crisis in the country. This came after Mahinda Rajapaska resigned on May 9.
3. The Indian rupee touched a fresh all time low of 77.55 against the US dollar. Other than India, other Asian currencies have also been hit. The yuan is the lowest in 18 months.
4. India's retail inflation surged to 7.79% in Apr'22, the highest since May'14 due to higher edible oil & fuel prices. 5. Ferdinand Marcos Jr, son of former Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos has won the Philippine presidential elections with a huge majority.
6. Water is being listed as a Commodity on American Stock Market, as a future trading item at a fixed price. This is a wake up call for the world.
7. ISRO has tested ''HS200'' rocket booster that is among the largest of its kind in the world. This booster is modified, human rated version of existing "S200" booster that is used on Indian space agency's heaviest rocket, the GSLV MkIII.
8. Indian government is set to make Jammu & Kashmir a sports hub by building World class infrastructure and new sports policy for the union territory.
9. Yoon Suk-yeol was sworn in as South Korean president in a huge ceremony at Seoul’s National Assembly, taking office at a time of high tensions with nuclear-armed North Korea.
10. India is set to host Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) Anti-terror body named as Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure. RATS is the permanent body of SCO for Countering Terrorism, extremism and Separatism. India is the current Chairman of executive Council of SCO's RATS.
