1. European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, while addressing the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, proposed to phase out imports of crude oil within 6 months and refined products by the end of the year.

2. India’s civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has extended an invitation to the Montreal-based United Nation's agency to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

3. RBI has hiked the repo rate by 40 basic points to 4.40% with immediate effect. This has been done to control the inflation.


4. PM Narendra Modi visited Germany, France & Denmark on a 3 day visit to boost bilateral trade and discuss issues of bilateral intrest. While at Denmark, he also held meetings with Head of states of Nordic countries.


5. Indian govt has invoked emergency clause as power crisis looms large. Over 43% of the plants fired by imported coal, have a total capacity of 17.6 GW and accounts for 8.6% of India's total coal power capacity.

6. India's total fertility rate has declined significantly from 2.2 to 2.0, indicating the significant progress of population control measures.

7. French defence company Naval Group has announced that it would not be able to join the P-75 India (P-75I) project. The P-75I phase envisages the construction of six conventional submarines with better sensors and weapons and the Air Independent Propulsion System (AIP). The French firm has pulled out of the project as it could not meet the Proposal of for AIP technology.

8. IndiGo has become the first airline in India to land its aircraft using the indigenous navigation system 'GAGAN'. GPS-aided geo-augmented navigation (GAGAN) has been developed jointly by Airports.

9. After sending missions to the Moon & Mars, ISRO is now readying a spacecraft to orbit Venus to study what lies below the surface of the solar system's hottest planet.

10. India's exports stood at a record $417.8 billion last fiscal, which translates to a rough $48 million worth of exports every hour.

11. India is planning to set up a 30,000 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind power capacity alongside 50,000 MW of solar capacity.

12. The GST revenue collection for April 2022 was at its highest ever at Rs 1.68 lakh crore.
