National
1.FM Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2022,, on 1st Feb. The emphasis was on infrastructure growth, including 68% of defense manufacture within the country.
2.FM Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2021-22 which predicted a GDP growth of 8 - 8.5% for the upcoming financial year.
3. Despite all the disruptions caused by the global pandemic, India has become the fourth-largest foreign exchange reserves holder in the world after China, Japan & Switzerland.
4. 16 new airports are going to be built in the five Central States to include Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh.

International
1 India & Australia have signed a MoU to boost the pandemic-battered tourism sector.
3. The UAE is emerging as a major partner in J&K development, as the UT has signed many MoUs with Abu Dhabi to build strong business relations. UAE's investment in J&K is a big victory for India.
4. Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th Feb '22 amidst ongoing tensions between the two nations. U.S & its NATO allies have put various sanctions on Russia.

Defence
1. The fifth submarine of Project 75, INS Vagir has commenced her sea trials.
2. First regiment of the S-400 Triumph missile system has been ser at an airbase in Punjab. It will cover parts of the border with China as well as the frontier with Pakistan.
3. Lt Gen Manoj Pande has taken over as the Vice Chief of Army Staff from Lt Gen CP Mohanty.
4. India's DRDO & French engine maker Safran are close to concluding a deal, for the joint development of a 125KN engine, for the indigenous fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft.
5. The Tejas Mk1A will now be armed with advanced short-range air-to-air missile (ASRAAM). It is said to be the best short-range AAM in the world

1. 16 yrs-old chess player Rameshbabu P became the 3rd Indian & the youngest player ever, to defeat World No.1 Magnus Carlsen, at the Airthings Masters.
2. India lifted the ICC U19 World Cup title, for the 5th time, after defeating England, on 5 Feb 2022.
3. Rafael Nadal has defeated world number two, Medvedev, in the final to win his second Australian Open title. The 35-year-old Spaniard overtook Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic to clinch the most number of men's singles Grand Slam titles(21).
