NEWS FOR 04-MAR (FRIDAY)
1. India & France are close to concluding a deal, for the joint development of a 125KN engine, for the indigenous fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), under development. The collaboration is between DRDO & French engine maker Safran.

2. The Tejas Mk1A will now be armed with  advanced short-range air-to-air missile (ASRAAM). After Python-5, the Tejas fleet getting ASRAAM is a significant step to boost combat capabilities of the jet, since both missiles are widely reckoned to be the best short-range AAM in the world.

3. India is set to go on a similar road to that of China' silk route called the International north-south transport corridor (INSTC), the trade route that links India with Iran, Central Asia & has the potential to expand up to the Baltic, Nordic & Arctic.

4. The ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine is likely to impact India, Thailand, and the Philippines the most as they are net oil importer.

5. More than 100 ‘Aspirational Districts’, of India are set to witness the construction of 5,795 kilometres of national highways, under a Rs 1-trillion plan by the NHAI.

6. The first batch of three MH-60R Multi-Role Helicopters contracted by the Navy from the United States are scheduled to arrive in India by mid-July. The three helicopters were handed over to the Indian Navy last July in the U.S. and are being used for training Indian pilots.

7. 16 yrs-old chess player Rameshbabu P became only the 3rd Indian & the youngest player ever, to defeat World No.1 Magnus Carlsen, at the Airthings Masters.

8. India has evacuated around 1400 students & 8000 Indian nationals from Ukraine. Around 20000 Indians are still stuck in Ukraine. The Indian Embassy is leaving no stone unturned to ensure their safety.
