International News

1. Bangladesh has achieved the highest GDP growth globally from 2010 to 2020. It is likely to become a developed country by 2041.
2. Indonesia has decided to change its capital from Jakarta to Nusantara after a bill seeking the same was approved by their parliament.
3. India’s Adani Group and South Korea’s largest steelmaker Posco, have signed a pact to explore business opportunities in India, including setting up of a integrated green steel mill in Gujarat. The investment is estimated to be up to $5billion.
4. Despite growing tensions between India & China, the two way trade between the two nations in 2021-22 stood at $125.66 billion, up 43.3% from 2020 when bilateral trade was worth $87.6 billion.
5. Philippines has officially become the first foreign nation to acquire the BrahMos supersonic anti-ship missile from India. The deal is around $375 million.

National News

1. An additional order of 200 155mm tracked self-propelled K9 Vajra howitzers have been placed with L&T worth Rs 10,000 crore. This is a great boost to AtmaNirbhar Bharat programme.
2. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Serum Institute MD Cyrus Poonawalla, Bharat Biotech founders Dr Krishna Ella & Suchitra Ella & India's first CDS Bipin Rawat (posthumously), have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
3. For the first time, India's agriculture exports have crossed 50 billion dollars in FY22.
4. Indian giants TCS (Rank-2), Infosys (Rank-3), Wipro (Rank-7) & HCL (Rank-8) are amongst the world's most valuable IT services brand of 2022. US based 'Accenture' has been named as the world's best.
5. Many of the big Chinese investors are shifting their base to India. In 2021 Chinese investments in India stood at $14.13 billion, up from $3.95 billion in the previous year.
6. Air India was officially handed over to Tata group on 27th Jan, nearly 69 years after its nationalisation. Tata group had won the bid to buy the airline for Rs.18000 crore.
7. Indian railway is all set to become the world's first 100% green railway with net-zero emission by 2030.
8. India has set up a target of USD 500 billion exports for financial year 2022-23. In Dec 2021, India is on target to reach USD 400 billion for the financial year (21-22).
9. The govt is working on a plan to use methanol as fuel for inland waterway transportation & in army trucks as part of a strategy to cut dependence on imported fuel.
10. India has encouraged global chipmakers with 760 billion rupees in incentives as the govt pushes to establish the country as a high tech production hub. Tata is looking to invest close to $300 million in an outsourced semiconductor assembly & test (OSAT) plant.
11. India's renewable energy global-Pic is forming a joint venture with a U.S company to help develop the South Asian country's emerging energy-storage market. This venture will bring battery-storage technology.
12. India is likely to overtake Japan as Asia's second-largest economy by 2030, when its GDP is likely to surpass that of Germany and the UK to rank as world's No.3. Currently, India is the sixth-largest economy in the world, behind the US, China, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom.
13. India’s renewable energy generation is expected to increase by 30 per cent by 2024 compared to 2021. India is world's 3rd largest consumer of electricity and world's 3rd largest renewable energy producer with 38% of energy coming from renewable sources.
14. India has beaten UK to become the third country with the most number of unicorns (atleast $1 billion valuation) – 54. It is now only trailing behind the US and China.
15. Chipset maker, Intel, is planning to set up its semiconductor manufacturing unit in India.

Defense News

1. BSF will soon be getting handheld 'Anti Drone Guns' to prevent Pakistani drones from entering Indian Territory.
2. In line with the central govt’s vision to boost defence exports to friendly foreign countries, the HAL has signed a contract with the Govt of Mauritius for export of one Advanced light helicopter (ALH Mk-III) for the island nation's police force.
3. Govt has placed an order for Kalyani M4 armoured vehicles, which is built in partnership with a South African defence equipment manufacturer - Paramount group. This order is worth Rs.177.95 crores.
4. DRDO has flight-tested its indigenously developed Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) recently. This missile is a low weight, fire & forget missile, having a range of 2.5kms.
5. India is expected to induct it’s first indigenously developed aircraft carrier INS Vikrant by August this year.
6. Indian Army has deployed Four Heron drones from Israel to keep a close eye on China's movements along LAC in the Ladakh sector.
7. The Indian Navy is planning to procure a batch of French Rafale Marine version for the indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) Vikrant.
8.Border Roads has built a road at an altitude of 19,000 feet on the Umling-La pass in southern Ladakh, which has now become world's highest motorable road.

Sports

1. Shuttler Lakshya Sen defeated World Champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore to win his first Indian Open title in the men's singles. It is the first time that an Indian has won the tournament on Indian Open debut.
