1. India has lifted ICC U19 World Cup title, for the 5th time, after defeating England, on 5 Feb 2022. 2. Rafael Nadal has defeated world number two, Medvedev, in the final to win his second Australian Open title. The 35-year-old Spaniard overtook Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic to clinch the most number of men's singles Grand Slam titles(21). 3. Google will invest up to $1 billion in Bharti Airtel as part of its Google for India Digitization Fund. 4. The govt has appointed Dr V Anantha Nageswaran as the new Chief Economic Advisor. Earlier this post was held by Krishnamurthy Subramanian. 5. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 31st Jan tabled the Economic Survey 2021-22 which predicted a GDP growth of 8-8.5% for the upcoming financial year. The Indian economy is set to grow at 9.2% in the current fiscal year. 6. Delhi has replaced Bengaluru as the startup capital of India as the national capital added over 5,000 startups between April 2019 and December 2021, according to the Economic Survey 2021-22. 7. Despite all the disruptions caused by the global pandemic, India has become the fourth-largest foreign exchange reserves holder in the world after China, Japan & Switzerland as of end Nov 21. 8. Union civil aviation minister, during the virtual PM-Gati Shakti conference on Jan 31, announced that 16 new airports are set to be built in all five states of central India. The five Indian states include Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh. 9. India has accelerated its construction works on the 850MW Ratle Hydropower project, taking advantage of a World Bank halt in the mediation process between the two countries five years ago. If the Ratle project is finished in the midst of the World Bank's ongoing pause, Pakistan will be forced to accept a 40% reduction in water flows. 10. India's unemployment rate has dropped to 6.57 per cent, the lowest since March 2021. While unemployment in urban India stood at 8.16 percent in January, in rural areas it was the lowest at 5.84 per cent. 11. According to govt, the fifth submarine of Project 75, the Indian Navy's Kalvari class commenced her sea trials. 12. The UAE is emerging as a major partner in Jammu & Kashmir's development, as the Union Territory has signed many MoUs with Abu Dhabi to build strong business relations. UAE's investment in Jammu and Kashmir is big victory for India & a major setback for Pakistan. 13. India has lost her Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar at the age of 92 who holds dozens of records in the Guinness book of world records. < < Back
