SUMMARY OF NOV: NATIONAL NEWS 1. The govt has launched the Krishi UDAN scheme to focus on transporting perishable food products from the hilly areas, northeastern states and tribal areas. 2. Women have appeared for the UPSC NDA exam for the first time on 14th Nov 21. This came after the supreme court in Sept allowed women to be eligible for NDA. 3. The govt withdrew the 3 farm laws on 19th Nov, which were brought in last year. This came after the ongoing unrest by farmers for almost a year. 4. PM Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of Noida International Airport in Jewar, UP. Uttar Pradesh, which is poised to become the only state to have 5 international airports. 5. PM Narendra Modi has laid foundation stone of Rs 400 crores worth Uttar Pradesh DefenceIndustrial Corridor project in Jhansi. 6. The govt has flagged off the first ever All India Domestic Workers Survey. It will cover 742 districts. Its objective is to estimate the number and proportion of domestic workers at the national and state level. INTERNATIONAL NEWS 1. On 25 Oct ‘21, the Sudanese General Abdel Fattah al Burhan, took control of the govt in a military coup. Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was put under house arrest. 2. India has announced that it will reach carbon neutrality by 2070, as part of a five-point action plan that included reducing emissions to 50% by 2030. India made this pledge at the Conference of the Parties (COP) 26 climate summit in Glasgow.India also urged developed countries to deliver on their promise of climate financing. 3. The Third Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan was organized on November 10 in Delhi. It was NSA levels meet that saw the participation of India, Iran, Russia and Central Asian countries. The Delhi Declaration is a step in the right direction for ensuring peace, security and stability in Afghanistan. 4. Srinagar wasadded in the UNESCO’s creative cities network, making it the sixth Indian city to be a part of this list after Mumbai and Hyderabad. 5. The annual inflation rate in the US has surged to 6.2% in Oct 2021, the highest since November of 1990. 6. The Pakistan government has lifted the ban on the extremist group Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) after the party committed to behave and follow the law. 7. China has handed over one of the biggest & most advanced warship named PNS Tughril to Pakistan, to make its presence felt in the Arabian Sea. 8. More than 20 African countries have joined together to plant a giant wall of trees that will run across the continent to stop the spread of the Sahara Desert. The great green wall of Africa will stretch for 7000 kms. DEFENCE NEWS 1. IAF & DRDO have successfully flight tested the country's first indigenously developed Long-Range Bomb (LRB) from a Sukhoi-30 fighter jet. The development of LR Bomb, with a range of 100 kms, will improve the self dependence, as also save a great amount of revenue. 2. DRDO & IAF carried out successful flight tests of indigenously-developed smart anti-airfield weapon. Its maximum range is 100 kms & it is equipped with imaging infra-red seeker technology. 3. Private defence manufacturer Economic Explosives Ltd has developed the country's 1st indigenous drones & loitering munition systems. It is yet another achievement under Make in India initiative. 4. PM Modi inaugurated the 340 km long PurvanchalExpressway, having the key feature of having a 3.2km-long airstrip to enable landing and taking off of IAF fighter planes during emergencies. 5. Indian Army’s military exercise named 'DakshinShakti' took place in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. This exercise included over 30,000 troops from the Army, Navy, IAF, Coast Guard, BSF and intelligence. 6. INS Visakhapatnam, a P15B stealth guided missile destroyer, was commissioned into the Indian Navy by the defense minister at an impressive ceremony held at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on 21 November 2021. 7. India successfully tested Agni-V missile. This is a significant step towards boosting the nuclear deterrence against China. The surface to surface ballistic missile has a three-stage solid-fuelled engine, which is capable of striking targets at ranges up to 5,000 kilometres, with a very high degree of accuracy. SPORTS NEWS 1. Olympian badminton player PV Sindhu was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award, by President Ram Nath Kovind. 2. Australia defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets to win the men's T20i world cup. 3. Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri became the first footballer to receive the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
