NEWS FOR 27th-SEP (MONDAY)
NATIONAL NEWS:
1. Assam & Mizoram had a border dispute over land claim near Assam's Cachar and Mizoram's Kolasib district. Situation has calmed down now.
2. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 10 cr families, out of the eligible 50 crore, have utilised free medical treatment of up to an amount of Five lakh rupees.

3. India has achieved a 100 GW Mile Stone of Installed Renewable Energy Capacity. India stands at 4th position in the world in terms of installed RE capacity, 5th in solar and 4th in wind in terms of installed capacity.  
4. Indian Army has planned to construct a tunnel similar to the Atal Tunnel under the Brahmaputra river in Assam for unhindered movement of its vehicles. Its length is expected to be 12-15 kms.  
5. A National Automobile Scrappage Policy has been announced by the Govt. The aim of scrapping the vehicles will not only remove the unfit vehicles in the country but also reduce carbon emission.  
6. Assam has started One Nation One Ration Card scheme. This will help the migrant labourers who richly deserve to draw their ration from any place in the country.
7. Women entry to the NDA has been permitted along with their admission in the Sainik Schools. This is a huge change in the outlook towards the female gender.

'National Monetisation Pipeline' was launched to monetise assets worth Rs. 6 lakh crore in the next 4 yrs. The plan lists the govt’s plan to monetiseit's infrastructure assets. The ownership of assets will still remain with the govt. This can be a game changer in building more infrastructures which will help the government in building much more infrastructures.
 
9. India has overtaken US to to emerge as the 2nd Most Desired Manufacturing Hub, China still being the 1st. This is likely to attract more foreign investors in India.
10. Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched '100 days campaign' titled as SUJALAM to create more and more Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus villages by undertaking waste water management at village level. It will help in management of the wastewater and will revive the waterbodies.   
DEFENCE NEWS:    
1. Ordnance factory has launched a high-tech, low sound carbine named 'TriCa', with a range more effective than a typical sub-machine gun and small enough to be packed in a human jacket.
2. India’s LCA Tejas Mk-1A will take its first flight by March 2022. HAL is expected to sign a multimillion-dollar engine deal with US firm GE Aviation for 99 F404 engines to power the aircraft.
3. Indian Navy and Saudi Arabia had their first-ever joint exercise in mid Aug 202, named, ' Al-Mohed Al-Hindi'. Which shows growing signs in defence ties between both the countries.
4. The Indian Navy participated in the U.S. Navy-led Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) military exercise in Singapore, to demonstrate its maritime manouvres.
5. The 12th edition of Indo-Russian joint military exercise INDRA 2021 was conducted at Volgograd, Russia from 1 to 13 August. The exercise entailed conducting counter-terror operations under the United Nations(UN) mandate. 6. Indian Naval Ship Tabar has participated at Portsmouth in England Annual Bilateral drill  'Exercise Konkan 2021' between Indian Navy and Britain's Royal Navy. It is a Bilateral naval exercise and is held every year since 2004.
7. DRDO has developed Advanced Chaff Technology to safeguard fighter aircrafts against radar threats. Chaff acts as a decoy which confuses & deflects enemy's missiles, thus ensuring safety of the fighter aircraft.

8. India's first indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) Vikrant has successfully completed a five-day maiden sea voyage.
9. Another edition of the Malabar naval exercise comprising the Quad countries -- India, USA, Japan, Australia -- was conducted in Guam, an American island territory in the Western Pacific. This was the 21st exercise which started at a bilateral level between India and USA in 1992.
10. Also India and Philippines conducted a naval exercise in the South China Sea on August 23. This exercise was conducted five days after conducting a similar drill with Vietnam in the region. Indian and Vietnamese navies had conducted the naval exercise on 18 August. This is making India's presence felt in the south china sea.  
INTERNATIONAL NEWS:    
1.A hotline has been setup between the Indian and Chinese armies in the Sikkim sector to further boost confidence along the LAC.
2. Germany has sent a warship to the South China Sea for the first time in almost two decades, joining other Western nations in expanding its military presence in the region amid growing alarm over China's territorial ambitions.  
SPORTS:  
1. India finished the Tokyo Olympics with 7 medals, including 1 gold, 2 silvers & 4 Bronze . This has been India’s best performance ever. 

2. Also India won 19 medals in Tokyo Paralympics, making it their best tally ever there. The Indian para-athletes won 5 Golds, 8 Silvers & 6 Bronze medals.
