National News:

1. Indian Air Force station in Jammu has been equipped with anti-drone system & jammers.

2. Uninon Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved a Rs 3.03 trillion power distribution company (DISCOM) reform scheme on June 30, 2021. Scheme comprises of a compulsory smart metering ecosystem along the distribution sector, from electricity feeders to consumer level.

3. Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi approved for revised implementation strategy of BharatNet under Public Private Partnership mode on June 30, 2021. Project would be implemented across16 States of India. Under the revised proposal, BharatNet will now extend up to all inhabited villages beyond Gram Panchayats.

4. One Nation, One Ration Card' being implemented with help of Digital India. The PM also added Digital India and CoWIN with the aim of helping the country during vaccination. CoWin application has also attracted interests from several countries across the globe.

5. Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari on 01 Jul 2021 took over as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff. The Air Marshal was commissioned in the Fighter stream of the IAF in 1982.

WORLD NEWS:

1. Nine European nations have accepted Covishield vaccines for travel to their countries which are Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland and Spain are among the countries allowing travel by people who have taken Covishield vaccines. This was in response to India's retaliatory action to quarantine all visitors coming from Europe.

2. China has begun construction of over 100 new silos for intercontinental ballistic missiles in a desert near the country's northwestern city of Yumen as per satellite imaging.

3. India will continue to maintain a naval presence in the troubled Persian Gulf & Gulf of Oman, which is aimed at protecting and reassuring Indian-flagged merchant vessels and oil tankers transiting through the region.

4. PM Modi greeted United States President Joe Biden and the people on the country's 245th Independence Day on 04 Jul. This was in a start contrast to ignoring Xi Jinping on their centenary celebrations.

5. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has urged the Myanmar military to release the ousted State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi & President Win Myint immediately.

Sports:

1. National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), has announced their recommendations for the National Sports Awards 2021. Present world number one in 10M Air Rifle Women Elavenil Valarivan, world number one in 10M Air Pistol. Men- Abhishek Verma & OM Prakash won the 50 meters World Championship & have been recommended for the prestigious Arjuna Awards, World Champion in Double Trap Ankur Mittal and World Championship silver medallist Anjum Moudgil have also been recommended for the prestigious Khel Ratna award, the highest sporting honour of the country.

2. Indian tennis player Sania Mirza made a winning return to the Wimbledon 2021, as she stormed into the women's doubles Round 2 at The Championship in London. 

3. India's greatest Paralympian, javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia, rewrote his own world record once again by throwing it to 65.71 meters  qualifying for Tokyo Paralympics during a national selection trial in New Delhi.

4. Maana Patel has become the first Indian female swimmer to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the women's 100m backstroke event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which will take place in Japan's capital city from July 23 to August 8.

5. In the England vs India Women, 3rd ODI , India has sealed 2 crucial points in the multi-format series after winning the ODI series finals in Worcester on 03 Jul (Saturday). The required total was 220. Mithali Raj's 3rd successive fifty helped India beat England Women by 4 wickets.
