DRDO: Developing new conventional weapons

The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is developing a 10 kilowatt DEW (Directed Energy Weapons) to be used against UAV like targets. These are conventional weapons which use kinetic or chemical energy in missiles or other projectiles to hit enemy targets. DEWs are basically beams of concentrated electronic magnetic energy or subatomic particles to hit targets.

Views: Development of DEWs and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons has been identifies as a top- priority area by the defence ministry & bringing in developments in these areas will help India head towards such futuristic weapons.
