French company DCNS is likely to work on Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) project in India under the Make- in- India scheme. This is likely to create 4, 000 jobs over a span of 4-5 years. The Indian Navy too is planning to set up an OTEC plant on the Andaman Islands off Port Blair.

View: These OTEC projects will generate energy by exploiting the difference in temperature on the ocean surface with waters deep below. This project, if successful, will prove to be a large reservoir of renewable source of energy for India, as we enjoy a 7500 Km of coastline.
