Recently, satellite images have shown the presence of missiles deployed on the woody islands in the disputed Paracel chain in the South China Sea. China states that the missiles have been placed to defend its territory & it also plans to add air strips & military installations. The build up is seen as part of Beijing’s efforts to virtually claim the entire disputed sea & its resources. US is opposing the same by claiming its stand & its freedom of navigation.
