Japan’s ShinMaywa Industries, manufacturer of US-2 aircraft, have inked a deal

with India to produce 6 such aircrafts for the Indian Navy. These aircrafts will

be used to monitor India’s vast coastline & islands as also will be used in

disaster management. The plant will be set up in India to cater to the

international demands.

View:   If the deal goes through, it would be the first major export of Japanese

defence item. This deal will also improve the foreign ties between both the

nations.
