The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ruled that differential pricing for data services will not be allowed.

No service provider shall offer free on charge discriminatory tariffs for data services on the basis of content.

The regulator has also set a penalty of Rs. 50,000 for each day of contravention, subject to a maximum of Rs. 50 lakh.
