·      NITI Aayog recently approved a proposal to restructure the old rural housing scheme Indira Awaas Yojana to provide houses 2.95 Crore people in the next 7 years at an estimated cost of 25 lakh crore.

·      The project would be renamed to The National Mission for Rural Housing & would be funded entirely through the Union Budget.

Views:

·      This will help in achieving the Narendra Modi  Government’s goal of providing housing for all by 2022.

·      The proposed changes would include increasing the size of the houses along with mandatory building of toilets in the houses.
